Oscar has dedicated his life to serving others. His humble beginnings make him understand that little acts of kindness can positively transform the world, so he is conscientious and highly compassionate to others.
One of his key impactful acts of service is organising reading workshops for children in poor communities in his home country, Ghana, through the Oscar Onai Foundation. The other principal activities of the Oscar Onai Foundation are advocacy, child and youth development, community development, health promotion, research in social development, and environmental protection.
To inspire hope and enrich lives through advocacy and the promotion of literacy and lifelong learning, youth empowerment, well-being, and community-led development.
A world in which everyone attains holistic development and feels empowered to achieve their dreams.
Humanity, particularly the underprivileged ones among us, is confronted with numerous challenges daily. Without the ability to change their predicament, they feel hopeless, and life seems less meaningful. That is why we are united by the spirit of love to serve with the aim to transform lives. We believe that by focusing service around our seven main causes we will make a significant impact in our quest to touch lives, a step at a time. Kindness is powerful – one act of service, a helping hand, an encouraging word, or a smile can make the world a better place.
The Foundation’s advocacy programme seeks to support the most disadvantaged people in getting heard and considered when making decisions that have an impact on their life.
At Oscar Onai Foundation, our child and youth development programme is targeted at young people in school and non-school settings.
Our community development programme seeks to organize community members into groups and provide them with the knowledge and abilities necessary to bring about change in their neighbourhoods.
The planet is facing significant challenges due to environmental issues. And these issues must be of concern to everyone, including governmental and non-governmental organizations. It is for this reason that the Foundation designed this programme to promote environmental conservation.
Maintaining people’s health is the main goal of our health promotion programme. For this reason, we support SDG 3 which aspires to ensure health and well-being for all. We carry out individual behavioural change programmes which include a variety of environmental and social initiatives.
The Oscar Onai Foundation understands that one of the most crucial pillars of success in both school and life generally is literacy. The Foundation recognizes that literacy promotion enhances the achievement of SDG 4, which is the provision of high-quality education for all, especially for vulnerable groups including underprivileged children and pupils living in rural communities.
The Foundation aims to do multidisciplinary research and analysis of policy on the social aspects of present-day challenges in Africa. Our research focuses on a variety of topics, including politics, economics, public health, social welfare, agriculture, and technology.
